FOOTPRINT TO FREEDOM KENYA CHAPTER

At Footprint to Freedom Kenya, we are committed to empowering survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable communities by providing holistic support, fostering leadership, and raising awareness. Through our trauma-informed, community-centered approach, we aim to prevent human trafficking by empowering those most at risk—especially women, children, and youth—and offering alternative livelihood opportunities to help them avoid exploitation. Uniting and Empowering Survivors and Communities to Lead in Anti-Trafficking Response Our work in Kenya is rooted in collaboration with local organizations and communities, ensuring sustainable impact and long-term empowerment. By equipping survivors with the skills and tools they need, we strive to create an environment where they can rebuild their lives, become leaders in their communities, and contribute to the fight against human trafficking across Africa. Whether through vocational training, mental health support, or survivor mentorship programs, our initiatives are designed to ensure that survivors are not just protected but empowered to thrive. Below are response areas and activities.

Prevention

We understand the importance of raising awareness about human trafficking, including its various forms, the tactics traffickers use, and the routes victims are taken. To address this in Kenya, we organize community outreach that focuses on educating and equipping those most at risk—women, children, youth, and marginalized communities.

Our activities include:

  • Raising awareness through school programs and community outreach, to inform vulnerable populations about the dangers of trafficking.
  • Training women — particularly those considering migration to the Middle East—on safe migration practices, human rights, and legal options.
  • Alternative livelihood opportunities are provided to women and girls at risk of exploitation, helping them avoid unsafe migration routes by offering them new, safer paths to prosperity.

Protection

We offer comprehensive support to survivors of human trafficking, ensuring they have access to mental health services, vocational training, and opportunities to reintegrate into society.

Our protection activities include:

  • Offering mental health services, community reintegration, and family reunification programs that ensure survivors have a strong support system and a clear path to a healthy, successful future.
  • Facilitating cultural mediation to enable survivors to thrive in their communities and lessen the chances of re-exploitation.
  • Mentorship programs where survivors mentor others, amplifying the impact of our work and empowering survivor-led organizations to strengthen their communities.

Empowerment:

Through our empowerment programs, we equip survivors and vulnerable communities with the skills and resources needed to thrive.

Our Empowerment initiative in Kenya include:
